TRE Chair & nesting ottoman, Directions East, 2007 - The TRE lounge chair meets the criteria for sustainability. It is made from Vietnamese bamboo, non-toxic glue, and water-based sealer. Vietnamese bamboo fully matures in 3-5 years. It is then molded using techniques similar to those used in the manufacture of bent-veneer furniture. The chair is remarkably comfortable. The ottoman fits conveniently under the seat when not in use. The back and seat separate for a small packing footprint. By the way, “tre” means “bamboo” in Vietnamese.
